About Our Fabrics

We use only high quality spandex fabrics, selected to be compatible with the Spandexwear patterns and ultimately provide the best spandex garment possible.

The solid colors are  approx 80/20% Nylon/spandex, while the velours and most of the prints are Polyester/spandex. The "PVC" coated spandex actually does not contain PVC. It is either a poly/spandex or nylon/spandex fabric with polyurethane coating.

Metallic foil fabrics are nylon/spandex with "metallic" finish coating. The coating on these fabrics is rather delicate and should not be subject to hard wear or abrasion.

Every garment is labeled with fiber content and washing instructions.

We do our best to publish accurate photos of each fabric. However, every monitor is different and there is no guarantee of an accurate representation of the color. For this reason, we literally beg our customers to order free swatches before spending the money to have us make you a special garment. If you order a garment without first ordering a Swatch, we will not be sympathetic to any complaints regarding fabric color, shade, texture, stretch, or any other such subject. If there is any doubt in your mind, please order fabric samples before placing a garment order.

All fabrics are available for by-the-yard sales. There is a 1-yard minimum for any fabric. Most fabrics are 58- 60" wide. Coated fabrics such as the PVC and Metallic Foils have a usable width of about 54". Fabric orders ship asap- usually in 1 - 2 business days. Please contact me if you have questions about a specific fabric.

Special order Fabrics-

I am often asked if I can get fabrics other than those we stock. If you would like one of our garments made from another fabric, it would be considered a custom order. You must contact me with details for prior approval and pricing.

Lycra vs spandex-
Spandex is a generic term that most people understand to be synthetic stretchy fabric. LYCRA® is a registered tradename owned by Invista for their specific brand of spandex fibers and fabrics. Over the years, the general population has come to use the words LYCRA® and spandex interchangably.

Unless specifically noted otherwise, all fabric references and photos in this website are of generic spandex fabrics.
